Recently I had reconnected with an old friend, who actually had started the website with me back in 2001 and talking about old stories from when we’d go to shows together and other things.  We actually had met during high school in the official chatroom on GoodCharlotte.com.  We both happen to randomly be in there super late one night and the only 2 people logged in that night.  She lived out of state but we instantly became really good friends and shared a love of punk and pop-punk bands including Good Charlotte, who at that time had just released their debut album.  We joined their official street team, I can’t recall what website it was on but the same website had official street teams for Simple Plan, Gob, Diffuser and Sum 41 to name a few, which we had joined as well.  We began our quest of promoting Good Charlotte in every way possible.  I recall accidently getting the band banned from being played on a local radiostation due to use requesting them every week on a weekly show.  I’m not really sure why us requesting them would get them banned along with any band that had a similar sound.  We kept emailing our requests in every week for months determined to get them airplay.  We also blew up Total Request Live with our requests for them as well and went to all their shows when they came to our cities.

I also do remember another incident with another radiostation, which was pretty funny but the DJ said some pretty horrible things to us for asking him about MxPx which resulted in him getting fired.  I won’t go into details but this ended up being a whole big mess for a couple of teenagers to get involved in but I think there was way more to it than what we know.

After being rewarded many gifts for our hard work promoting these bands and being state captain for another band for some time we both retired from our street team duties to focus on our magazine/website.
